Restriction of Hazardous Substances is a Directive of the European Union which severely restricts the amount of Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Chrome 6 and Halogenated Fire Retardants in Electrical Products. EU has further clarified the applicability of this directive to products that require electric current to fulfill its basic(primary) function.
